Our Policies

GreyhoundHounds of the Heartland/GPA Central Oklahoma's Policies:




A. For the life of the Greyhound, adopter must agree -
  • To never allow or permit the Greyhound to be used for (i) racing, (ii) hunting, (iii) medical research or experimentation, (iv) any commercial purposes or (v) for other purposes constituting exploitation of the Greyhound.
  • To notify HOH/GPA/Cent. OK/immediately if the Greyhound should become lost or stolen.
  • To immediately return the Greyhound to HOH/GPA/Cent. OK if, for any reason, Adopter is unable to keep or care for the Greyhound. Adopter agrees that ownership or possession of the Greyhound shall not be transferred to any other person without express written permission of HOH/GPA/Cent. OK.
  • To keep the Greyhound on heartworm preventative and to continue annual vaccinations, both under the supervision of a licensed veterinarian. Adopter further agrees to provide all other necessary veterinary care for the Greyhound.
  • To keep a collar and ID tag on the Greyhound at all times.
  • To keep the Greyhound as an indoor pet and not left outside or in a garage or other out-building.
  • To use a crate to confine the Greyhound indoors if necessary.
  • To put a lock on exterior gate(s) to prevent the Greyhound from opening the latch and escaping from the yard.
  • To never allow the Greyhound to run loose.
  • To never tie the Greyhound outside without Adopter’s constant supervision.
  • To give the Greyhound a comfortable, clean, healthy and loving environment for the remainder of his/her life.
B. If the Greyhound is left outside without the express permission of HOH/GPA/Cent. OK, then HOH/GPA/Cent. OK has the right to repossess the Greyhound and place him/her with another Adopter.

C. In the event HOH/GPA/Cent. OK is notified that the Greyhound has been found prior to Adopter’s notification of any excape, loss or theft, HOH/GPA/Cent. OK will have the right to repossess the Greyhound and place him/her with another Adopter.

D. Upon adoption, Adopter accepts full responsibility for the welfare and care of the Greyhound thereby releasing the Greyhound’s previous owner as well as HOH/GPA/Cent. OK and its representatives from any future liability concerning the Greyhound.
