  Volunteer
There are many opportunities to help the greyhounds through Hounds of the Heartland. A couple hours of your time a month would make a big difference in the life of our greyhounds.

Donate
You may sponsor a dog by contributing to its care or you can choose to help with operating expenses. Contributions can be made in memory or in honor of the person or pet of your choice. Donations are tax deductible.

Foster Homes
Your family might want to foster a greyhound in your home and help the grey become familiar with life inside a house and all the new experiences that brings. HOH provides the crate, food and medical care. You provide the home and the love and teaching the greyhound about their new world.

Show and Tells
On various weekends, we show off our greyhounds at the local Petsmarts and other locations in the Oklahoma City metro area.  We often need volunteers to pick up foster greyhounds from their homes and take them to and from the Show and Tells.

The Show and Tells at Petsmart etc. require at least 3 to 5 volunteers to greet the public, hold the dogs and answer questions of potential adopters. This is also a great way to meet other greyhound enthusiasts.
New Venues/locations are always needed. If you know of a place where our greyhounds can visit and do a Show and Tell let us know. Show and Tell coordinators are always needed to commit to a regular time and place.

Fundraising
Fundraising is a continuing process and we are need of volunteers to seek out new opportunities for product donations, grant applications and other opportunities to generate donations to our non-profit group.

Transportation
Since we receive the majority of our greyhounds from farms and kennels in the State of Oklahoma, we are in need of individuals that would be able to drive to a breeder's kennel to pick up a dog that was relinquished to our group. All of our dogs require a visit to a local veterinarian for their health care, therefore we could always use volunteers to pick them up and drop them off.

Presentations

Anywhere that a greyhound is allowed to go is an opportunity to make a presentation to an audience whether they are a group or one on one that might want to learn more about greyhounds and adopting these wonderful retired racers. The sky is the limit from schools to nursing homes to Home Depot and anywhere that welcomes a visit. Your daily walk in your neighborhood or park is an opportunity as well.
