  The Story of Dazzle

Dazzle - Adopted September 2005

Dazzle
We have been working on a long distance adoption of Dazzle. We wanted everyone to know that it was an unusual situation to adopt one of our greyhounds to someone so far away, but it was an adoption that was meant to be. Dazzle is deaf and a woman in New Jersey (Saimi) who already has one deaf greyhound and a deaf granddaughter and does Therapy Dog work with deaf children and in nursing homes saw Dazzle on our website and contacted us about her.

Since that time we've worked a long distance application. Transportation was worked out by another wonderful volunteer from New Mexico for Dazzle with 12 legs of a journey over 1600 miles. Tonight Dazzle is in her new forever home in Toms River, NJ and her new Mom couldn't be happier. She has fit right in with her new greyhound siblings and in fact everyone along her 3 day journey would have liked to have kept her. Yea Dazzle!!!  (9/05)

Update:

As we all know a picture is worth a thousand words - and these pictures tell quite a story. Dazzle has settled beautifully into her new home and is as happy as she can be with her new mom and greyhound family. She is enjoying her "work" with disadvantaged children's groups at the Trenton Library for the Blind and Handicapped as a greyhound therapy dog. Saimi reports that Dazzle and Rio have become favorites with the children from the nearby school for the deaf - the kids sign to the dogs and are quite excited to see them respond!
